Fazer was founded on September 17th 1891 when Karl Fazer (August 16 1866 - October 9 1932) opened his first confectionary on Kluuvikatu in Helsinki where it still stands today. The Fazer family members are still very much involved with the company and they have two main business areas, Fazer Food Services and Fazer Bakeries and Sweets in 8 different countries; Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Russia, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. All the sweets are made in Finland; Vantaa factory(chocolate), Lappeenranta factory (candy) and Karkkila factory (chewing gum), there is some bakery production in the other countries. Fazer also owns Cloetta and LU, which produce various well-known Finnish cookies.
Pihlaja candy (since 1895) is the oldest Fazer brand still out on the market. It is a marmalade sweet covered with sugar, reminds of the Green Balls you'll see later.
The Mignon chocolate egg (since 1896) one of Fazer's first products and still incredibly popular during Easter. Handmade.
Kiss Kiss candy (since 1897) also one of the first brands.
Geisha original milk chocolate with hazelnut filling (since 1908) one of my personal favourites. Exists in various flavours e.g. dark chocolate and packages just like many other Fazer brands.
The Fazer Blue chocolate since (1922). A household name in Finland, known and loved by everyone. Traditional, delicious and simply the best. I know you all loved it from the first bite right? ;) The Fazer Blue has been chosen as the most valued brand in Finland several years in a row and no wonder. After you try it you know it. The Fazer slogan isn't "Say Fazer when you want something good" in vain. Fazer uses fresh milk when producing this chocolate, which makes it so delicious. The two most sold chocolates in the Blue family are the basic one and my favourite, hazelnut chocolate. Fazer also has a patent for their blue color so no other company can use it. It is simply classic. Like other products, can be found in different flavors and wrappings. In 2013 the wrappings got a new design which makes it an even more elegant gift. This chocolate is a popular souvenir or gift when you go visiting friends.
Fazer Green Balls (since 1929) marmalade candy with tons of sugar on top. One of the Christmas favourites.
The original Dumle (since 1988) toffee covered with chocolate that just melts in your mouth.
Fazer Panther candy (since 1961) the black ones are the original ones, fruit tastes came later. Very traditional.
Fazermint (since 1969) a chocolate with a fresh minty filling.
Kismet (since 1974) a nougatfilled waffle covered with milk chocolate. A traditional favourite.
Marianne (since 1949) is a Fazer classic. It is hard candy, chocolate filled mint candy to be exact.
Only a few of the various flavours of the Fazer blue milk chocolate; my personal favourite and probably my favourite Fazer product of all is the one in yellow wrapping, milk chocolate and whole hazelnuts. I think I probably have some every day. But then again nuts are healthy so why not combine indulgence and healthiness ;)
Fazer rye bread
Fazer toast (since 1966) in various flavou. Fazer was the first producer of toast in Finland.
LU Domino cookie (since the 1950s). Also a very traditional favourite in Finland, vanilla cream sandwich cookies in different flavours also, e.g. lemon. Was also made into an ice cream.
I could talk about this all day. I don't know what I would do without Fazer, I feel like it has been such a big part of our lives. To many people in Finland it is almost like family, something that will always be there and I think this makes the brand so valuable and special.
