Super Bowl XLVIII

Well I definitely ain't no big fan of American football but since it was Super Bowl Sunday I had to watch it. All of you know I'm more of a hockey fan, so I don't know most of the rules for American football, other than terms like touchdown and quarterback and that the first game was played back in 1869 already. So it has a long history. Super Bowl is the championship game of the NFL league and the most watched sports event in the United States and one of the most watched around the world. This year it was played in New Jersey at MetLife Stadium, which is the most expensive stadium in the world with a capacity of over 80 000 viewers. It's also the home arena to the New York Giants and the New York Jets. Pretty impressive. 

This year Super Bowl XLVIII was played between the Denver Broncos and the Seattle Seahawks. As we all know by now the Seattle Seahawks won clearly with a final score of  43 to 8. Denver hadn't scored any before half-time so the result was pretty obvious by then. As for the half-time show Bruno Mars was performing with the legendary Red Hot Chili Peppers (RHCP) but the show wasn't anything of mind-blowing I must say. Also the television commercials during the Super Bowl cost a ton of bucks as everyone is glued to their tv. This is pretty much how I'd summarize this event; players tackling each other, expensive commercials and supposedly a half-time show worth remembering. Am I forgetting something? Oh yes, the players. A quick run-through and one player catches my eye; The Denver Broncos number 87 Eric Decker. A question to all girls; what do you think? ;) Makes football more interesting right?

En todellakaan ole Amerikkalaisen jalkamallon suurin fani. Koska nyt oli Super Bowl-viikonloppu oli kuitenkin pakko katsoa. Suurin osa tietää että lätkä on se jota todella seuraan, joten futiksen säännöt eivät todellakaan ole minulle tutut, lukuunottamatta termejä kuten touchdown tai pelinrakentaja. Ensimmäinen amerikkalaista jalkapalloa muistuttava peli on pelattu jo 1869, eli pelillä on pitkä historia. Super Bowl on siis NFL-liigan mestaruusottelu. Sama siis kuin NHL-liigassa pelataan loppuottelut. Super Bowl on katsotuin urheilutapahtuma Yhdysvalloissa, ja yksi maailman katsotuimmista koko maailmassa. Tänä vuonna ottelu pelattiin New Jerseyssä MetLife Stadiumilla, joka on maailman kallein stadion, ja New York Giantsin ja New York Jetsin kotikenttä. Stadiumille mahtuu yleisöä reilu 80 000. Aika vaikuttavaa.

Mielestäni show ei ollut mitenkään tajunnanräjäyttävää, kuten tämän shown kuuluisi olla. Myös tv-mainokset ovat Super Bowlin aikaan erittäin kalliita, kun niin moni on liimautunut tv-ruudun ääreen. Näin tiivistäisin tapahtuman; pelaajat taklaamassa toisiaan, kalliit mainokset ja oletettavasti muistamisen arvoinen puoliaikashow. Unohtuiko jotain? Ai niin, itse pelaajat. Nopea läpikäynti ja yksi pelaaja osuu silmääni; Denver Broncos-joukkueen numero 87 Eric Decker. Kysymys naisille; mitä tykkäätte? ;) Tekee futiksesta hieman kiinnostavampaa eikö totta?
